Rooted and Flourishing in God

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly… and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” ( Psalm 1:1–3) Beloved, Psalm 1 reminds us that true blessing begins with choice. The blessed person is not defined by what they possess, but by the path they deliberately refuse to walk—rejecting ungodly counsel, harmful influences, and destructive patterns. Instead, they are rooted in God’s Word, delighting in it daily and allowing it to shape their thoughts, decisions, and actions. The psalmist paints a powerful image: a tree planted by rivers of water. This speaks of a life positioned intentionally—nourished, stable, and fruitful in every season. Even when conditions are harsh, such a person does not wither, because their source is constant. God’s Word provides wisdom, direction, and strength that sustain growth over time.
