THE PASTOR’S WIFE
A Pastors wife is a born again child
of God, who loves the Lord, She is a wife and a help meet of her husband – the
pastor – alone. She is a mother to her children and others. She is a student,
teacher, friend, Pastor, an evangelist, prophets, and a servant leader. She led
herself and her family to the Lord and she is always led by the Holy Spirit.
She is called to love and serve the people among whom she works, caring alike
for the young and old, strong and weak, rich and poor.
Dearly beloved, what God is calling
you to has no budget. You are called into a budget-less ministry and a social
crisis situation. God has a problem He wants you to solve. You and your
husband are the only one that can solve it. God will never call you to
disgrace you. So you must be born again, giving your best not pretending
or else frustration will flush you out and unfortunately to hell. In other
words sacrifice wholeheartedly. Bring innovation into the ministry as led by
the ministry, be simple, wise and patience. Your interest must be God’
interest and will alone, trusting God that you will come out victorious in
every task or responsibility given to you.
Act 6:1-7
6 In those days when the number of disciples was
increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the
Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily
distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the
disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the
ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers
and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of
the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and
will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” 5 This
proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith
and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon,
Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They
presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on
them. 7 So the word of God spread. The number of
disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests
became obedient to the faith.
Your Responsibility and actions:
1.
Prayer is meant for you and your
family members. Never let the fire at the altar go off.
2.
Spend quality time to study the word
of God. Fear God and obey His commandments.
3.
God has called you and your husband,
be submissive to him. Hold on to God and make sure Evangelism is the
topmost priority of your calling and ministry (Read Matt. 24). The
world is in a mess and someone like you has to tell them that Jesus loves and
died for sinners. They are welcome to join the body of Christ now before it’s
too late. (cf. John 3:16). For emphasis, just as a Pastor, it will be your
task to proclaim, by word and deed the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to fashion your
life in accordance with God’s precepts.
4.
You
are to preach, forgive and pronounce blessings. You are tasked with the
responsibility of leading the women and girls in the Church so that the word of
God will spread thereby making more disciples increasing and the Pastors
likewise.
5.
You
are to nourish Christ people from the riches of his grace, and to strengthen
them to glorify God in this life and in the life to come.
6.
Help your husband
to do his work. Don’t judge him or condemn him but rather help to make the work
easy for him remember you are first a help meet before a Pastor’s wife.
7.
If you are not ready to learn you
will not be able to take correction. Proverbs 12:1 say "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever
hates correction is stupid." You must gain experience by
learning from the word of God, those in authority and role model in the society
and the Church.
8.
Always put your household first;
however, entertain strangers too. "Do not
forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some
people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." (Heb. 13:2)
9.
If you care for other people, God
knows how to care for your needs too. "Keep your lives free from the love of money and
be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Heb.
13:5). Do not be partial, love everyone even if you are treated badly by
them.
10.
A leader hears a lot of things, but
what a good leader does is to swallow a lot of things in other to gather fact
and be wise in your decision. Study more on
how to handle crisis and know your boundaries. Learn to leave without jealousy.
11.
Be open, sincere and patience. Always
seek for wisdom, be careful the way you speak and act so that people will not quote
you wrongly. The Bible warns in James 1:9 saying "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be
quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,"
12.
If you labour, be a servant leader
and you will enjoy your ministry but the devil will want to discourage you.
13.
God is the one that called you and
He will definitely equip you.
14.
Let your hand find something to do.
Don't be a devils' workshop, idleness could cause that dear sister. "We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive.
They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the
Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat." (2
Thess. 3:11-12) So please support your husband to bring something to the family
and do not involve yourself in gossiping and causing rivalry in the
neighborhood (see 1 Timothy 5:13; Leviticus 19:16)
Therefore be encouraged, The Lord himself
goes before you and will be with you; he
will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”(Deut. 31:8). Have a personal
and intimate relationship with the Lord. Study the Word, take care of yourself
and family. Leave a life that imitate Jesus Christ and be a role model to your
family, an example to the young and old in your Church and the society at
large.
Finally, dear friend, do not imitate what is
evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who
does what is evil has not seen God. (3 John 1:11)
May the peace of the Lord be with
you always.
Your friend,
